AIR FESTIVAL SET FOR SEPT.22ND AT O.C. AIRPORT, 26TH & BAY AVE.

OCEAN CITY, N.J.--- The City’s annual Air Festival is set for Sat., Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Municipal Air Port, 26th and Bay Ave. Admission is free.

The airport grounds will be packed with unusual airplanes. A variety of antiques, World War 11 planes, Ultralights, Homebuilts, Classics and Warbirds will be parked for inspection and judged for prizes.

There will be air demonstrations over the field including an advertising banner pick-up, Coast Guard helicopter rescue demonstration and a glider take off at the end of the event.

Visitors will be able to access an FAA Twin Engine plane and there will be airplanes rides for a fee.

Model airplane demonstration will be performed by the Atlantic County Sky Blazers. The program will feature helicopters, jets and other planes. The models will be put through dramatic maneuvers, some zooming straight up several hundred feet, then catapulting towards the ground and pulling out of the dive a short distance from the runway.

Some model jets will attain speeds of over 100 miles per hour. The Sky Blazers are local hobbyists who belong to the area chapter of the American Model Airplane Assn.

A paper airplane flying contest is set for youngsters starting 11 a.m. between Hangers A and B. Age categories are 4-6, 7-8, and 9-12. Materials to make the planes will be provided. Ribbons and balsa planes will be awarded to winners. Entry is free.

The event also features a display of over 35 antique automobiles. There will be refreshments for sale.

There will be face painters, greyhound dogs and children can also enjoy a mini playground at the entrance to the Airport.
