THREE FREE EVENTS IN OCEAN CITY THIS WEEKEND

The City’s popular Air Festival, a Cavalcade of Marching Bands and one of the largest Corvette shows in the East will be held in Ocean City this weekend. Admission is free to all events.
The Air Festival is set for Sat., Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Municipal Air Port, 26th and Bay Ave. Features include a ground display of unusual air planes ranging from World War 11 planes and antiques to Classics and Warbirds plus a special display of gliders.
Air demonstrations include an advertising banner pick up, Coast Guard helicopter rescue demonstration and glider take off at the end of the event. There will be airplane rides for a fee.
Model airplane demonstrations will be performed by the Atlantic County Sky Blazers. The program will feature model jets that attain speeds of 100 miles per hour, helicopters and other planes.
A paper airplane contest will be held for youngsters starting 11 a.m. All materials will be supplied, prizes will be awarded. Face painters, greyhound dogs and a mini playground for children are also features plus a display of 35 Antique Automobiles.

A Cavalcade of Marching Bands will parade on the Boardwalk, Sat., Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. from 14th to 6th Streets. The event features high school marching bands from throughout the area. The groups will stop in front of the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace, to perform for the judges. Following the Parade, bands gather at the Sports and Civic Center, 6th St. off Boardwalk, for a 3 p.m. awards ceremony.

Over 300 Corvette Cars will be displayed on the Ocean City Boardwalk on Sun., Sept. 23 starting 11:30 a.m. The autos will date back to the Corvette’s first model in 1953 and extend to the present.
The show is one of the largest in the East with owners from Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and New Jersey plus entries from as far away as Ohio and Indiana. Cars will be on the boardwalk from 11:30 a.m. till 4 p.m from 7th to 12th Sts. The exhibit is held rain or shine.
An awards ceremony is set for in front of the Music Pier at 3:30 p.m. Proceeds from registration fees benefit local charities.
